Our team relish a challenge and as a software developer at Streamba, you’re in good company. We’re building the Google of the energy supply chain, connecting up the energy industry and applying the latest in machine learning and cloud technologies based on the GCP stack.
We build our own web applications where we care about quality not just of the code but of the user experience. Code monkeys need not apply, we are looking for people who enjoy thinking hard about difficult challenges and turning those thoughts and ideas into applications and code that will be used by man and machine.
We need your fresh ideas, your perspective, ideals, energy and values. You’re passionate about the latest frameworks but understand their weaknesses just as deeply as their strengths. You don’t mind jumping into a conversation with a customer to understand exactly how your skills and talents can make their life easier and benefit their customers. It would appear to the layman that you command technology effortlessly, and you’ve spent years learning to do just that, yet you are confident enough to recognise you don’t know everything, that you make mistakes but you are willing to learn, that’s what has taken you this far and that’s exactly why you’re applying for this job – you want to be challenged on something big, exciting and be recognised for your efforts in the team.
As we double-down on our product development working with such technologies as GCP and Google Home, you will be developing on these technologies and leveraging more for our team to solve as we bring more companies onto our platform. Travel will be required as we need our developers to attend conferences in San Francisco such as Google IO and Cloud Next, so a passport is required.
You can offer us:
- A tried and tested background in software development or engineering
- An excellent, analytical, critical thinking mind with a passion for modern development methodologies and technology
- Technical confidence but not arrogance, you’re ready for the next step up but are willing to learn and challenge yourself – you’re not always right and you’re willing to take a risk at being wrong
- Kaizen – proactive continuous learning and improvement
- Positivity and a friendly, approachable manner – you can communicate your ideas soundly and help others put across theirs
- The ability to identify risks, challenges and potential pain points within our engineering processes and suggest alternatives
- A genuine belief in building great software for our customers and improving the energy industry
Streamba can offer you:
- Genuine autonomy, trust and a chance to make a measurable difference within a small growing company
- A significant, but highly rewarding challenge. There’s no time for boredom here and every day we’re learning new skills
- Freedom and the resources required to implement your vision
- The opportunity to work with smart, focused engineers and the investment in your skillset to ensure each of us pushes one another towards excellence and away from the slippery slope of comfort and mediocrity
- An opportunity that doesn’t come along too often – to be part of an early, growing technology company whilst it’s still small – we like to think of ourselves as Glasgow’s ‘SkyScanner’ and we’re trying our best to ensure that happens.
What do you need to apply?
As a minimum:
- A passion for learning coupled with an insatiable curiosity
- A Computer Science/Engineering degree or similar is preferred, but if you’re exceptional at what you do and can show us, then this is optional.
- Deep familiarity with the modern DevOps culture, processes and tooling
- Line management experience is preferable (management, training & mentoring)
- Any of our technology stack or the ability and passion to learn them intimately: C#, C++, Java, Elastic Search, Javascript, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, GitHub, Jenkins, ASP.NET MVC 5, Meteor, MongoDB and SQL Server
- Any experience of machine learning technologies or frameworks would be a bonus.
